The birthday giveaway I almost forgot to give away

hi BLOG!
when I'm not blogging, you KNOW something's up. This past month has been a new level in exhaustion for me... wow! So much so that I haven't had more than a few minutes at a time to sit down at the computer over the course of even a week. SO. That said, I nearly forgot about my promised giveaway. This morning, as a birthday gift, J took all 3 kids to a cousin's basketball game so I could have some mommy time to myself. (trying NOT to clean for tonight's little mini-party)
This is one that I have been excited to give for a while. I've been saving it and hope that you will like it. Remember when I went to Italy last summer? Well, the one day that J and I went to the island of Murano and toured the glass factories, we had the best time. One of the highlights was walking up and down the little canals of the island, peeking into stores to find the perfect Murano glass rings for myself and one for my sister's upcoming birthday. (That day we also started a fun art project where we walked around colorful Burano, Murano and Venice collecting pictures of house numbers that had signifigance to us personally for different reasons)
Well, I recently stumbled upon - in the most peculiar (secret) place - a treasure trove of Murano glass rings. And as you can see... I've been wearing them a LOT. So I have one to give away! These rings tend to be a little bit big (close to a size 8 or 8.5). If you have small fingers, you'll want to wear them on your bigger fingers... or win it to give to someone else and keep sharing the love. Enter to win by sharing a favorite birthday memory. (don't forget to check back here by March 4 to see if you won... I'll post it, but I can't promise I can hunt you down with all the insanity going on around here lately!)

Eek! How exciting! Loving those rings!!

I was a very lucky girl growing up and my mom always went above and beyond for "our day" each year.

There's not one particular memory that comes to mind, just that every single birthday I would wake up to find the house decorated in streamers and banners to wish me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I hope to do that for my own kids one day...

My birthday was last week and Kendra coordinated a dinner party for me with special people in my life. The party was complete with party hats, poppers and pin the tail on the donkey. Who says you can't have a fun party at 59.

There's not just one memory that I remember. Of course when I was younger, they were more exciting. I always loved the bdays when I had friends sleep over.

Happy Birthday Liberty!!!

Every year for my birthday, my mom would always make me my favorite cake, Strawberries & Whipped Cream Layers with White Cake. This is still my favorite cake to this day. Yummy!! Thinking about it makes me want to make a cake right now! Maybe I will, in honor of you...

XO

happy birthday, liberty!

hmmm...birthday memories...most of my birthdays growing up were spent in a gym watching basketball games because of my dad's job. :) i have two favorite birthday memories though - one where i got to have dinner in italy while living in florence for a semester in college and one where my girlfriends surprised me with lunch last year (yourself included) right before we moved.

My sister and I are a little less than one year apart and our birthdays fall tree days from each other. Growing up we always had joint birthday parties. I'll never forget the gift my sister gave me one year when she said that my gift was a party all to myself. we had a small cake for her on her birthday but all the rest of the celebrating was for me. It was so sweet for her to do. She turned 10 that year and I turned 9.

Happy Birthday! As a twin, I usually shared a cake with my sister, who sometimes would blow out my candles. Now as adults, my mom always makes us our own favorite desserts rather than one cake to share.

Happy birthday Liberty!
I was JUST trying on some rings like these..looking for my piece of jewelry in honor of my 4th pregnancy. and to think i could get one for free!
one of my favorite birthday memories is in the form of a card, from, my older brother when i turned 27 or 28: it had a black and white photo of two little kids (a boy and girl) in the buff sitting at the edge of a pool. On the kids' heads were buckets. inside the card it said,"have a happy birthday, sis. hope you're having a blast. wear a bucket on your head. or whatever."
brings sweet memories to mind.... =)

Happy Birthday, Liberty. Let's see... a fun birthday memory... Well, this year on my birthday, I found out that I was pregnant. Thought I better take a test before going on the big rides at Disneyland.

I love those rings. I keep eyeing them in stores.

One of my favorite bday memories was with my brother, our bdays are 2 days apart (and 7 years). We were finally both "adults" and bro was in town for spring break. We had a beach theme and everyone who came was dressed for it. (we even turned up the heat in the house since it was still cold out end of March in AK.)

My favorite birthday parties were sleepovers, but there was one when my mom, brother and sis-in-law took me and a bunch of my friends to the Gilbert House in Salem...wish I could go back right now. :) Although, the birthday when I got Edgar, my first ipod, was pretty sweet too.

I've decided to enter your giveaway. :) Hmm, bday memory... Does it have to be MY birthday? Because one of my favorite birthday memories is from last year when I surprised my husband for his 30th bday by flying us to Dallas for a Cowboys game. It was the coolest present ever, which made me very happy. :)

Oh I just love those rings!

My favorite birthday memory? It would have to be my 16th birthday - mom and dad had a surprise party for me, only I refused to go! I wasn't feeling well and was more excited about having the house to myself than going out to eat. Well, they insisted so to "embarrass" them I wore my tshirt that my mom hated and my weirdest pajama pants and didn't even bother brushing my hair and just threw it into a pony tail.

Needless to say, I was the one embarrassed!!! Luckily my mom stashed jeans and a better shirt in the car to change into!

Fun rings!

My birthday growing up always had that extra little twist of sharing it with my twin sister. Matching presents, double parties, and splitting the attention as usual. When I went off the college, it was the first time I ever just celebrated my day for me. I've gotten to the point now where I'll be so excited for my birthday, I'll forget it's my sister's birthday completely and have to scrable to get her a last minute card or gift, haha. ;) Me me me me me.

My birthday is 9/22, my fathers is 9/25 and I have spent my whole life loving that he and I get that special moment to share a cake, share a cupcake, share a beer at my 21st, etc. I've never resented this fact, not even as a kid....it was and still is that moment between my Dad and I where we wish together on the same candle for the next year that is ours. There will be a day that he is gone and I will be lucky enough to carry this on with my daughter.

My second child was due 10/24, she came early on 9/26 - so close to sharing a day with my father! I am thrilled to know that she will share with us in this tradition and that one day she will hopefully love that extra connection with me.

I'm almost 8 years older than my husband. When we first talked about it on our second date, I told him I was OK with the age difference if he was but I couldn't promise how I'd feel when I turned 40. As 40 approached, we'd just had our second child and I knew he wasn't planning anything special. So I threw myself a great party at one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago (Tre Kronor). I'd said no gifts, but everyone chipped in and got me a couple of wonderful pieces of Le Creuset cookware. It was the best birthday ever!

I forgot my fav. memory...

My 21st Birthday was my fav. My mom, now husband then boyfriend, and a few friends went out. Dancing, of course a few drinks, and I got up bright and early the next day to hike in the woods.

Woo hoo for birthdays!!
Okay, a fun memory that just popped into my head was my 14th birthday at a park. I went looking for some friends that had wandered off into the trails and when I found them they were being naughty and playing 'Truth or DARE!'...they dared me to kiss red haired-freckly (not that there is anything wrong with that) Garrett who I though was so gross and I bolted so quick that I got lost on the trail at my own birthday party. I guess you had to have been there...and been me at that time. ;)
